A look into daily terminal operations –
Logistics at Ziel Terminal

The daily operations of a modern container terminal are defined by movement, coordination and precisely organized processes. A new video provides a close look at terminal operations at Ziel Terminal in Duisburg.

Machines, trains, yards and people work together every day to organize intermodal freight transport efficiently. Cranes move containers, trains are loaded and unloaded, and trucks handle the pre- and post-haulage of loading units.

The video offers an authentic impression of how terminal logistics and intermodal transport function in daily operations. From the movement of handling equipment to the coordination of rail and road transport, it becomes clear how many processes work together behind the scenes to ensure reliable transport operations.

Tree Planting Challenge at Ziel Terminal

Tree planting challenge.png

Ziel Terminal has taken part in the Tree Planting Challenge – an initiative encouraging companies to set a clear sign for sustainability and environmental awareness. We were nominated by Kai-Norman Knoetsch, Managing Director at CVS Ferrari – many thanks for this nomination.

On our premises in Duisburg, an apple tree has now been planted. It not only brings a touch of green to the site but also stands symbolically for growth, future, and responsibility. With this action, we want to show that even small steps can make a big difference when it comes to protecting the environment.

The challenge continues by passing it on: we have nominated the following partners to take part and plant their own tree for sustainability:

  • Peter Newerla, Container Terminal Herne

  • Lukas Nestmann, Reifen & Trailerservice

  • Stefan Hütten & Markus Wirz, Haeger und Schmidt Logistics GmbH

We are pleased to be part of this initiative and hope that many more companies will follow. A short video of our planting activity can be found here:

Boosting Efficiency with a Technology Upgrade

Ziel Terminal continues to invest in modern technology and a powerful infrastructure: with the new reach stacker from CVS Ferrari, we have expanded our fleet. The new machine is already successfully in operation and supports our daily workflows.

The additional reach stacker means even greater flexibility, reliability, and efficiency in terminal operations for our customers. Especially during peak times, high utilization, or parallel processes, it provides tangible advantages. This allows us to reduce waiting times, speed up processes, and ensure consistently high service quality.

With this expansion, we are not only strengthening our performance in day-to-day operations but also sending a clear signal of our commitment to continuous development and investment in the future. The use of modern technology is a key element for us to meet the growing demands of combined transport in the best possible way.

Destination_Terminal_Trade Fair_04.png

From June 2nd to 5th, Ziel Terminal was represented at the world's leading trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management in Munich – and with great success!

Together with our partner CVS Ferrari, we had the opportunity to hold exciting discussions at our booth, present innovative solutions, and establish new contacts from across the logistics industry. Whether digitalization, efficiency improvements, or terminal optimization—the range of topics was broad, and the interest was enormous.

Highlights at the stand:

  • Presentation of modern terminal processes from Duisburg

  • Exchange with partners and specialist audiences from all over Europe

  • Networking with freight forwarders, technology providers and logistics experts

  • Personal conversations in a pleasant atmosphere

We were particularly pleased with the direct exchange on site: Face-to-face conversations are still invaluable – whether with long-standing partners or new contacts. Many thanks to CVS Ferrari for the excellent cooperation and to all visitors for their interest!

We are taking many ideas back to the Ruhr area – full of motivation to continue to play an active role in shaping the future of logistics.
